What
does it really mean to the average network marketer.
I’m
sure that a wave of interest has flooded thought out the network marketing
world with the announcement of the new Anti-SPAM law passed by the U.S.
House of Representatives BUT what does it really mean?
I have been
compelled to write this article in the aim of saving many people grief
over the possible misconception that this bill legalizes commercial bulk
mail, it doesn’t. Once every body wakes up and smells the coffee they
will realize that all it has done is take one single step closer to
defining what is acceptable mailing practices for businesses on the
Internet.
First
things first: This is a law passed by the congress in the US. Which
means to receive any justice from it you must take your case to the courts
in the US. Many people neglect to realize that the Internet has it’s own
law controlled by greater forces than the courts of one country or even a
single State. Organizations like SPAMCOP, SPAM HOUSE or SPAMBAG are not
going away. They Will continue to define in there own terms what they feel
is SPAM and they will continue to hold every IP user to ransom by creating
lists of IP ranges that they consider sources of SPAM.
Ask you ISP,
“can I now send bulk mail through my Internet connect?” and
they will tell you quite plainly to go and read the terms and
conditions of there service. Nothing has
changed my friends it doesn’t matter what the courts say, until you
bring it to the courts to contest a case. And to date there have been very
few cases brought to the courts. No ISP is going to change their rules on
what you can do from their servers because they can’t risk being shut
down by the SPAM.
So
why rejoice?
What has
happened is that finally there is in writing a clear definition of what
SPAM is and what penalties should be associated with it. This by default
has set some very clear standard for commercial mail. Please remember the
bill doesn’t condone commercial mail it only defines what Spam is and
what it is not.
These clear
criteria for commercial mail means that the pressure on services like Auto
Responders and other commercial mailing systems that have been developing
systems to keep commercial mail flowing will be reduced. It is going to be
easier to maintain mailing lists for businesses as long as they stick to
the rules.

contact details in case of failure in removal system or complaints
This is what
most commercial mailers have already been doing and will continue to do.
Maybe the SPAM police will ease up on commercial mailing groups, but that
is yet to be seen. There may be an increase in hosting and IPS companies
who will house commercial mailing companies, again we have to wait and see
how the industry addresses this new law. But one thing is clear for now
nothing has change for the average Network marketer. You still have to
keep to all of the safety procedure as before if you wish to advertise
with out being accused of SPAM.
